Jake grew up outside of Milwaukee, Wisconsin and attended the University of Wisconsin in Madison. He received his B.S. in Wildlife Ecology and Environmental Sciences in 2005. During his time in Madison, Jake worked at the Center for Limnology on a number of aquatic research projects. One project focused on determining the effect of predation by native sunfishes (Lepomis spp.) on populations of the invasive rusty crayfish (O. rusticus) in northern Wisconsin lakes. He also took part in a whole-lake stable isotope addition experiment examining the role of fishes in carbon flow between aquatic and terrestrial systems. Jake started as a Masters student at the University of Florida in August 2006 under Dr. William Pine. His research will focus on habitat use and movement of several riverine fish species from different functional groups along Florida's Springs Coast. In his spare time Jake enjoys a number of sports including: basketball, baseball and football, as well as fishing, hunting, scuba diving, and relaxing with family and friends
